Celibacy is the latest trend sweeping the dating scene, especially among Black Gen Z women.
According to a survey by dating app BLK, 43% of Black Gen Z singles are embracing celibacy. That number jumps to 64% for Black Gen Z women. 61% of those surveyed cited self-growth or self-discovery as their main reasons for being celibate, and 66% reported improved mental and emotional health as a result of being celibate.
“What we’re seeing with Black Gen Z singles is more than just a dating trend – it’s a movement towards personal empowerment and emotional well-being,” said Jonathan Kirkland, the app’s head of brand and marketing.
