Hip-hop will return to its roots this summer, to celebrate where it all got started.
A concert celebrating 50 years of hip-hop has been announced for August 11th at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx -- the birthplace of hip-hop. The headliners are Run-DMC, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne and Ice Cube “with surprise guests.” There will also be a “Queens of Hip-Hop set” featuring Eve, Lil Kim, Remy Ma and Trina. Other acts on the bill include T.I., Fat Joe, Common, A$AP Ferg, EPMD, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco and Slick Rick.
The event also includes a “Pillars of Hip-Hop" set with DJ Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, as well as Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Roxanne Shante, Scorpio and The Sugar Hill Gang. A flyer also promises “legendary DJ sets” from Battlecat, Clark Kent, Mannie Fresh and Marley Marl.
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.
