It's a good news-bad news situation for hockey fans – depending on how well your team was playing before the shutdown. The NHL is coming back, but it's going straight to the playoffs, so the season may be over for your team.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman made the announcement on Tuesday that 24 teams will return to play, after they are tested, for a playoff tournament that will be held in two cities. The season is over for the other seven teams.
Under the plan, training camps would re-open sometime after July 1st, and the season will wrap up with the Stanley Cup Finals in early fall.
Bettman said, "We remain focused on the safety of our players, coaches, support staff and arena personnel. We will not set dates, choose sites or begin play until we know it is appropriate and prudent and are approved to do so." (The New York Times)
