A popular food product sold in stores around the country have been recalled from certain states, including Ohio, over a potentially "serious" health risk to certain consumers.
Homegrown Family Foods has issued a recall of its 6 ounce Shore Lunch Oven Style Breading & Batter Mix due to the presence of milk that was not declared on the product packaging, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This could cause a "serious or life-threatening" allergic reaction in consumers with a severe sensitivity or allergy to milk.
The recalled products have a best by date between April 23, 2025 and February 25, 2026, and UPC Code 2473912000 as well as any of the following lot codes: RP117050, RP120012, RP120011, RP120013, RP123249, RP123389, RP129004, RP129005, and RP129006. The products were "primarily distributed" between April 29, 2024, and May 1, 2025, in retail stores in select states, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
As of May 29, there has been at least one allergic reaction reported in connection to the recall, and that individual has since "recovered." Other consumers with a dairy allergy or sensitivity are should not consume the product and can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
