FXXXXY, Dallas Rapper & Future Collaborator, Dead At 25

Rising Dallas rapper-producer FXXXXY has died. He was 25.

Following previous stories reporting FXXXXY (pronounced “Foxy”) passed away earlier this month, an Interscope Geffen A&M spokesperson confirmed the musician died after a routine medical procedure.

The family of the star has since released a statement, per Variety. “The family of Maudell Watkins, aka FXXXXY, aka FBG Fox, are totally shocked and devastated at his unexpected and unforeseen passing,” reads the statement. “We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to his many friends and acquaintances who’ve reached out to us in this extremely difficult time. He lived music with every breath he took and his focus and drive were unmatched. May his contributions to the music industry live forever. CC 4 Life!”

“We are all deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of FXXXXY and offer our sincerest condolences to his family, his team, friends and thousands of fans,” IGA Executive Vice President Joie Manda added of the “Beep Beep” artist. “Everyone who came into FXXXXY’s orbit was moved by his positive energy and spirit. His talent was undeniable. He was an important member of our IGA family and it’s heartbreaking that he was taken from all of us too soon.”

The Texas-based rapper first garnered buzz for his 2016 debut EP, Cartel Shawty, which featured tracks like “Write Me Back Honest” and “Columbian Exchange.” Earl Sweatshirt was an early supporter of FXXXXY, who would go on to link up with rappers like Lil Durk (“Follow Me”) and Gunna (“Need U”).

Another element of FXXXXY’s growth in the industry came by way of his association with Future, for whom he engineered the SAVE ME EP ("Government Official," "Extra")and co-produced this year’s High Off Life ("Life Is Good" Remix).

FXXXXY’s untimely passing comes weeks after he dropped his final record, “Paranoia/ #1 Stunna.”
