Waddup y'all! Every other Thursday from here on out I will be bringing you back with some of my favorite throwback hip hop and R&B tracks and videos in hopes of bringing a little bit of nostalgia your way. Make sure you follow me on social media to keep up on new music, interviews with artists, and much more!
.
It makes me feel old knowing that a lot of hip hop fans today don't know that Ludacris was a force in the 2000s. Who can forget this one, featuring Floyd Mayweather, that was one of the great pump up songs of the 2000s.
.
This absolute classic brought skate culture to the forefront of hip hop and also made Lupe a household name (especially in Chicago).
.
Right when I hear the horns drop in this beat, I am immediately brought back to the days of getting all the homies together to play NFL Street Volume 2 (possibly the best football game ever made.) Plus the video features DMX in a college frat house with a full marching band. I'm not sure how much more lit it gets than that.
.
Many of you may know this classic featuring both Method Man and Mary J at their primes, but the video for this one is very underappreciated with it's 90's New York vibe.
.
It doesn't get more mid-2000s R&B than Bobby V's first single "Slow Down." Both the song and video should bring you right back to the R&B heyday that those years were.
